I. The Scientist
Hi, and welcome!
I’m Lakindu S. Pathira Kankanamge. A molecular biologist and biochemist working at the rare intersection of wet lab science and bioinformatics.
I design and execute experiments at the bench, and I analyze complex biological data computationally. This dual fluency allows me to move from molecule to model, from DNA, RNA and protein structure to systems level interpretation. It is not a common combination, but it is where I thrive.
With over ten years of research and industry experience and more than ten peer reviewed publications, my work spans protein engineering, proteomics, cardiovascular biology, oncology, and translational molecular design. I am deeply interested in understanding mechanisms, precision, and the engineering of biological systems that can meaningfully improve human health.
Science, for me, is both discipline and devotion. I genuinely love what I do. And I believe we can always do better for humankind.
II. The Journey
My path began in Sri Lanka and expanded across continents into research laboratories and academic institutions in Boston. The journey shaped more than my CV. It shaped my resilience.
This whole experience demanded courage. Research demanded humility. Industry demanded responsibility. Setbacks demanded growth.
What once felt like isolated challenges now feels like a coherent narrative of expansion. Each transition strengthened my identity not just as a scientist, but as a human being learning to belong in new spaces while staying rooted in who I am.
“Lakiverse” was born from that unfolding.

I am a pop girly with millennial energy. I love slow evenings by the beach and golden sunsets that quiet the noise of the world. I cook Sri Lankan food when I need grounding. Nature restores me. Stillness recenters me.
I am also a writer. A thinker. A content creator. A fighter shaped by life’s pressures and strengthened by perseverance.
